Design and Understanding of Method Statements
The Health & Safety at Work Act 1974/Order1978 requires employers to provide adequate information/instruction to their employee’s. This can be done through the formulation of written instruction known as a method statement. A risk assessment will often have input into the formulation of your method statement. A method statement is a useful way of recoding the hazards involved in specific tasks and communicating the risk and precautions required to all those involved in the work.

Course pre-requisites
Learners are required to be 16 years of age or above.
Course content
- Recognise and state the statutory requirements and relevant Approved Codes and guidance documents
- Understand the risk assessment process
- Understand what key elements should be included within a method statement
- Understand when a method statement should be reviewed
- Understand why a method statement is specific and not a generic document
- Complete and design a method Statement
