Noise at Work
Hearing damage caused by exposure to noise at work is permanent and incurable. Research estimates that over 2 million people are exposed to noise levels at work that may be harmful. The Control of Noise at Work Regulations 2005 (the Noise Regulations) was brought into force for the protection of workers exposed to risks caused by noise.
Course designed for
This course is tailored, structured and designed to suite all audiences (Managers, Supervisors & Operatives) detailing the statutory requirements of the Control of Noise at Work Regulations 2005.
Course pre-requisites
Learners are required to be 16 years of age or above.
Course content
- Legislative Requirements
- The nature of risks from exposure to noise
- Noise Prevention/Reduction Measures (Includes equipment selection)
- The Risk Assessment process including any measurements taken, with an explanation of those findings
- Noise monitoring & the exposure limit values upper and lower exposure action values
- The availability and provision of personal hearing protectors and their correct use
- Why and how to detect and report signs of hearing damage (RIDDOR)
- Health surveillance and its purposes
- safe working practices to minimise exposure to noise
Course qualification
In-House Certificate (issued by HSCT)
Skill identity card (issued by HSCT)
Refresher training
Every 3 years or if Legislation Changes
