
Introduction
The aim of this course is to develop learners individual competence on the correct installation, inspection, maintenance, design and supervision of 12A/B installations in line with the NHSS 12 scheme requirements.
Course Designed For
All persons who will be required by their employer to work on motorways and or high speed dual carriageways as a Traffic Safety and Control Officer.
Course Pre-requisites
To be registered by LANTRA Awards as a TSCO, candidates must:
- Hold a valid Lantra Awards 12A Foreman certificate (certificates valid for 2 years)
- Hold a valid TSCO certificate (certificates valid for 2 years)
- Prove that they hold a current 3 day First Aid at Work certificate in accordance with the H&S (First Aid) Regulations 1981
- Prove that they hold as a minimum a 1 Day Safety Awareness training Course Award issued by IOSH, NeBOSH or CITB, please contact Lantra Awards for a full list of acceptable alternatives.

Course Qualification
Certificate of training issued and valid for 2 years and is not proof of competence.
A TSCO card will only be issued when the following criteria is met-
- Successfully completed and passed 12A Foreman’s course
- Successfully completed and passed TSCO course
- Hold a valid health & safety qualification (NEBOSH, IOSH)
- Hold a current and valid first aid at work qualification
Refresher Training
2 Years refresher is required for certificate holders (training day only)
5 Years until refresher is required for card holders (training day only)
If candidates hold a 12A Foreman card as long as they keep their card up-to-date and meet the minimum requirements, candidates will only have to attend the TSCO course once in their lifetime.

Course Assessment
Following completion of the TSCO training course the learner can obtain TSCO status (TM card) by completing a set of off site written assessments as prescribed in the Sector Scheme document (card will only be issued when all criteria is met)
