Development and Implementation of Hot Works Permit

Instructions or procedures are adequate for most work activities, but some require extra care.  A Hot Works ‘permit to work’ is a more formal system stating exactly what work is to be done and when, and which parts are safe.

Course designed for

All persons that are permit controllers/Issuers , Managers & Operatives

Course pre-requisites

Learners are required to be 16 years of age or above.

• Recognise and state the statutory requirements and relevant Approved Codes and guidance documents
• Understand the risk assessment process
• Identify procedures to deal with accidents, incidents and emergencies
• Roles and responsibilities
• What should be contained within a Hot Works Permit
• Permit Communication
• Hand over procedures
• Permit overloading procedures
• Termination of permits (When/Why)
• Non-Compliance procedures
• Management Review

Course qualification

In-House Certificate (issued by HSCT)

Skill identity card (issued by HSCT)

Refresher training

Every 3 years or if Legislation Changes
